Pierce County Human Services Scholarship

The purpose of this funding is to help increase child care in Pierce County and to support current child care providers or child care volunteers interested in obtaining degrees or certificates in early learning.

In order to qualify for this scholarship, applicants must live or work in Pierce County, with the intent of attending a program at a college or university in the state of Washington, to complete a degree or certificate in early childhood education. Applicants can pursue business management or business administration if they are a director or owner of a facility.

Application notifications are sent via email the first week of the month following your submission. For example, if you submit an application on March 14th, you will be notified during the first week of April.

As of January 1^st, 2024 this is a scholarship of first dollar. If you are awarded a scholarship your funding will be applied before grants (including the Federal Pell Grant), loans and other gift aid.

The funding for this scholarship ends December 31^st, 2024.

Pierce County Human Services Scholarship

Please take note of these important items:

Submitting an application does not guarantee that you will be awarded a scholarship. Scholarships are not awarded until all required documentation has been submitted and you have signed a scholarship contract. The application steps are:

o Submit the application

o Application is reviewed by the Scholarships Team

o If found eligible to move forward to the next stage of the application process, you will receive an email requesting to send in your required verifying documents

OR

o You will receive an email that states you are ineligible

o When all required documentation is submitted and reviewed, you will receive a contract to sign, and your contract will be processed by our Scholarships Team. After that, then you will become a scholarship recipient and eligible for funding.

An award is never guaranteed. If you are awarded a scholarship, it is your responsibility to communicate with the Scholarships Team to ensure that:

o Your application is complete

o Your application information is current (you must notify us immediately if any of your application information changes)

Funding for this scholarship is only available through Fall of 2023. Child Care Aware of WA strongly encourages applicants to apply for financial aid. Tuition awarded through this scholarship may not cover the total cost of tuition at your chosen institution.
