Child Care Aware of Washington Scholarships Application

The Child Care Aware of Washington Scholarships Program administers scholarships to early learning professionals who work in, or own, facilities participating in the WA State Early Achievers program. The Bachelor’s Degree Pathways Scholarship covers some of the costs for participants who are interested in earning their Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education (or another approved academic program), DTA/Pre-BA coursework, or their Montessori credentials at public Washington State institutions approved by our funder, the Washington State Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF). PLEASE NOTE: This is not the application for the Early Achievers Grant (EAG)! We do not support ECE Stackable Certificates, AA degrees, Master’s degrees, or PHD’s for child care providers in our scholarship program. If you are a child care provider who is pursuing an Associate Degree in ECE and/or Stackable Certificates, you may be eligible for the Early Achievers Grant (EAG) at your local community or technical college. Child Care Aware of Washington Scholarships Application

Please take note of these important items:

Submitting an application does not guarantee that you will be awarded a scholarship. Scholarships are not awarded until all required documentation has been submitted and you have signed a scholarship contract. The application steps are:

o Submit the application

o Your Authorized Facility Representative (AFR) needs to fill out the verification form before your application can be reviewed.

o Application is reviewed by the Scholarships Team

o If found eligible to move forward to the next stage of the application process, you will receive an email requesting to send in your required verifying documents

OR

o You will receive an email that states you are ineligible

o When all required documentation is submitted and reviewed, you will receive a contract to sign, and it will go to your AFR for their signature. Once all required signatures are completed and processed by our Scholarships Team, you will then become a scholarship recipient and eligible for funding.

An award is never guaranteed. If you are awarded a scholarship, it is your responsibility to communicate with the Scholarships Team to ensure that:

o Your application is complete

o Your application information is current (you must notify us immediately if any of your application information changes)

As of July 1^st, 2024 this is a scholarship of last dollar. If you are awarded a scholarship your funding will be applied after all grants, gift aid, scholarships of first dollar but before loans. Please reach out to your academic institution to ensure you understand how this scholarship works with other funding sources.

The contact information must be from an individual at the program and/or facility who oversees your schedule and can sign any forms required by the scholarship program, such as a direct supervisor or director.

Once you have submitted your authorized facility representative's (employer’s/supervisor’s) information, they will be sent an email with instructions on how to complete their portion of the application on your behalf. They will be providing additional information about your specific child care facility or center.
